The Inevitable Death of Artemis

Poor artemis is dying. Hopefully it will last until August, when I can start thinking about buying a new laptop.

Artemis has lasted me five years and some months, and has set a new record on how long a portable machine lasts in my paws. The battery life is just shy of 30 minutes, but should suffice for working at Earth Economics. USB ports are inoperative, which means no external mouse (this is terrible), but I can live with that for now.

At least I can develop still. I get fidgety if I don’t code. Seriously. I don’t know what I would do if I could not code. In times like these, I have been known to write out code by hand in a paper notebook!

The laptop that will be powering my future endeavors will most likely be a System76 Galago UltraPro. I really don’t want to deal with removing A Certain OS, nor do I want to hassle with UEFI again. It is bad enough wrestling with it on my desktop. I have heard some really awesome things about this company and its goods, so we’ll just see. This will be the first time I buy a brand new laptop (I usually buy refurbished [which is risky] or one that is a year+ old). I am excited! I just hope that the keyboard is not like the HP, Dell, or Apple ones. I think those are absolutely terrible.
